What is that thingy???

Are some of you wondering
what is that thing above her mantel? Well, It's a
chicken feeder that I got at a fantastic Antique Store.
If you look closely there is writing in
the front of it and also in the back too.
The owner of the shop carries a lot of enticing treasures
that I find hard to resist every time I go into that place
and this is one of them. It's very long, narrow and
interesting..... a piece that is versatile, which I
like so I can do different things with it according
to my moods when decorating. I find this so adorable
and just had to have it (smiling)... you
know what I mean.
My little bowls line up quite nicely in this thingy. I do
paint a lot of things that come into my house, but
this is one thingy I'm keeping the way it is.

UPDATE ON MY BITE; For all the ones that commented and emailed me with your concerns... I thank you all for caring and wanting to know about my condition. I am back and running with no problems.... I end up soaking my foot with epsom salt and that seem to do the trick
and I am now 100% better.

Thank you for all your wonderful comments on my
home and my toe bite. (giggling)

Have a Super Duper Weekend!!

God Bless
Sandy~

Hi Sandy, glad to hear your back to 100% :) I really like your "thingy" and it looks wonderful with your lovely rose bowls displayed in it! It's definetly something you won't find in everyone's home, which is what I like about it! I would end up painting it though, probably a nice cottage white, then rubbing a glaze or something over the lettering to make it stand out.

Have a great weekend!!

Warmest hugs, Brenda

Hi Sandy, I love your thingy! And your dishes look so pretty in it! Sorry somehow I missed your post about being bit... sure hope you are doing better now! Those things are terrible! About a month and a half ago, a wasp went up my pantleg (don't ask me how???) and stung me 7 times on my thigh... I posted about it later, when the hurt went down some... I kept swatting my leg through my jeans trying to kill it as I was running inside, and by the time I got to my back stairs I had my pants down around my ankles (sorry neighbors!).. anyway Jack killed it when I finally got inside... I was on Benedryl and ice packs for days, so I can really sympathize with you... I am so sorry!!! So happy you are doing more posts again now! xoxo Julie Marie

Hi Sandy,
Your home is so lovely. The chicken feeder looks really good holding your pretty plates. I love the roughness of the metal with the softness of all that surrounds it.

Leave it to you to make a thingy look fantastic. I am happy that you are back to normal. Did you use your epsom salt water on your roses after you were through soaking your foot. hehe. My grandmother used that on her roses and they were beautiful.

Hi Sandy, that chicken feeder looks delightful.. definately 'outside the square' which makes it all the more interesting. Saw another one on someone else's blog too the other day, unfortunately can't remember the name. I think everyone will be wanting one now!! I did have one you know when I had chickens but didn't look nowhere as pretty as your one. I think I too might be tempted to paint it then sand it back a bit to give it a rustic look. Either way I love it.. glad to hear your tootsie's better... take care< Maryann

WOW Sandy I completely missed that last post on your toe bite.. How happy i am to know your ok. I had a hens nest once i use in my sunflower and rooster dining room.. Scalded it and put sunflower decals on it and used it for my table cloths and stuff in my dinning room. It was a conversation piece for sure. Now about your toe.. If i had seen this post i would have sent my special toe angel to take care of it for you.. Sending my huggggggggs and love afterward instead.. Sheila

Do you think there are some chickens going hungry out there now Sandy? hehe! I think it makes a much nicer plate rack. I'm sure the chickens don't mind eating off the ground anyway! What an awesome treasure you found.
I am relieved to hear that all is well with your foot. I am happy to have the update. I was thinking of poor Mary last year when she got the rattlesnake bite. Yikes!

Hi Sandy - Thanks for visiting me. Your home is lovely and quite romantic indeed. I luv it! Responding to your question about my milk bottles, the paints I used are "Martha Stewart's Vintage Map" from Lowe's and a personal customized color I had ordered from Home Depot called "Tiffany Blue". What I did was I brought them a gift bag from Tiffany's and they color matched it. Hope this helps you. I'm your newest follower coz I adore your blog.

Sandy. I could paint the dresser/buffet thing it is not sentimental. BUt my grandmothers dining table ummmmmmmmmmmmm.. I dont know. I have been looking for a table and chairs i would not mind painting, because i would love a white set. But, i am not to keen on painting it. I would however like to slip cover the chairs all the way down to the floor, but, i dont know how to sew. I know i can buy some, but, have not seen any at walmart that i like the look of. I keep looking on ebay for a whole set ... I am always open for great suggestions. hugggggggggggggggggs

Hi Sandy, thanks so much for stopping by and leaving you nice comments. I love the chicken feeder with the lovely china bowls. Isn't it amazing when we mix the primitives with vintage, or other periods, what a neat contrast can take affect? Great idea to display the bowls that way (I am a chicken feeder kind of girl).

I was so blessed to see my grands again. I went to HI 4 yrs. ago to see them, but the youngest wasn't born then. It is a bittersweet trip because I know it will be quite some time before I see them again. Thank the Lord for cell phones and email. I left the kids with a computer.

You are right about the landscaping on a budget. It is so much cheaper to trade with friends, start from seed, etc. I do that all the time. I gave away dozens of hybrid Iris this year because mine had to be thinned. Now several people I know had them blooming in their yards, much to their delight.
many blessings, carrell
